… – which is mildly concerning; enough in fact to focus the mind!
EFA who organise the Marrakech-Atlas Etape have been sending out publicity from posters to leaflets – all of which feature, among others, a certain James Tuffs who sticks out from the crowd due to the choice of ride being his Brompton – that and the fact he looks noticeably slimmer than the current incarnation.
So, I weigh myself – 16 and a half stone is the depressing truth. A casual two and a half stone heavier than when I did the ride last year.
There was nothing for it, a trip to the storage unit ensued, the ‘tubby’ trainer located and a bike bought from the office, dismantled to fit down the hatch and rebuilt in the saloon. Now under the decks in the workshop, between the sail bags and the diesel tank is the space where I will be spending several hours a week pedaling towards a 34″ waist – the thinner I get, the more room I will have! Not that it will solve the problem of my spine gently rubbing the cockpit deck above mind 🙂
